Who i am

I’m Debi Sue. I am a mother, wife, advocate, seeker of justice, pro woman, pro choice, a collector of stories, symbols, and stillness. A lifelong explorer. A journal-scribbler. A lover of light through dusty windows and words that say more than they should. Maybe I read too deeply into things…

Creativity has always been my compass. I’ve spent over fifteen years working in design, branding, and digital storytelling. Crafting identities, building websites, shaping language and visual landscapes for small businesses and big-hearted people. I’ve written for as long as I can remember—fiction, essays, fragments on receipts and the backs of scrap pages. Words have always offered me a sense of home, and lately, a way forward. In 2025, I began my MFA in Creative Writing, chasing the stories that have lived in my bones for far too long. I hope to also use this to help others publish their untold stories.

But the real story? It’s down deeper.. underneath all that.

A few years ago, I walked through cancer. I live with autoimmune disease. I know what it’s like to have your body begin to whisper warnings before you understand the language it’s speaking… and then it begins to shout. My background in psychology taught me about the mind. My body taught me about resilience. Together, they shaped how I see the world—through the lens of empathy, nuance, and the need for ritual. I am a severe empath, that tends to feel energy too deeply.

Photography has always been part of my quiet practice. I studied it in high school, and since then, I’ve documented travel, family, friendships, and everyday beauty—senior portraits here, tattoo studio shoots there, restaurant menus and sacred little moments in between. While I no longer shoot for hire, I find joy in capturing stillness and offering those images as art—prints, windows, small ways of remembering.

This site is a curated space where all of it lives together: design, words, image, and intention. A place to share, to archive, and maybe to connect. Because I believe art doesn’t have to be loud to be felt. Sometimes, it just has to be honest and come from the heart.
